Nash Tenn May th

Dear Friend Mary

I received your most welcomed letter this morning and I assure you that I was very glad to hear from you as it is the first I have had from you in about six months I am as well as usual with the exception of my hand that does not seem to gain very fast Has not gained scarcely any since I last wrote it will be a long time before it gets entirely well if it ever does I am now acting as clerk for Dr Hearlow the surgeon in charge of this hospital A very nice man he is

I will try and get my discharge before a great while I presume the Dr will not like to pass with me now but I think that I can fix that alight I should very much please to be at your house in the neighbourhood of cherry " " they are " " that I have not enjoyed for the last three years you may look for me as soon as I get home and make a shout " " I shall then start for tempting summer is here with all its beauties the grass is nearly large enough to cut the leaves on the trees are nearly the

There is Hospitals in this place you spoke of Henry Kenzey being married I have not heard of it before You did not state who he married I should like to know in your next letter I do not think Mrs Knapp need be afraid of her Boys I don think the girls will run away with them unless they have changed a great deal since I last saw them Joe is bound to have messy Grippen at any rate As he use to think so much of the widow Griffons Mary I sent home photographs to your Staff and the rest of the family You will probably recognize me at once the other is a soldier friend of mine
